What is a Trailblazer Troop?
Trailblazers is a group of older girls (middle and high school) that enjoy outdoor adventures. Trailblazers has 5 focus areas that include Hiking, Stewardship, Camping, Adventure Sports, and Survivorship. Girls can earn the Trailblazers pin by focusing on 3 of the 5 areas and completing certain requirements.
Our group meets 1-2 times a month with a big trip in the summer. Time and days vary depending on the schedule of those involved.
What to Trailblazers DO? Trailblazers focus on outdoor and high adventure. Here is an ever growing list:
Hiking, Backpacking, Archery, Horseback Riding, Wilderness First Aid, Cookout, Axe Throwing, Sling Shots, Rock Climbing, Repelling, Low Ropes, High Ropes, Zip Lining, Orienteering, Geocaching, Letterboxing, Trail Running, Canoeing, Kayaking, Mountain Biking, Spelunking, Bicycling, Camping, Tree Climbing, Skiing, Water Skiing, Snowboarding, Snowshoeing, Fishing, Boating, Wakeboarding, Rowing, Paddle Boarding, Whitewater Rafting, Sailing, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, Sledding, Surfing, Swimming, Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides, Tubing, Wind Surfing, Paintball, Riflery, and Slingshots.

Do Trailblazers earn badges?
Yes! Girls can earn badges and patches, but are not required to. Here are some examples.
Cadettes (6th-8th grades) - Trail Adventure, Trees, Archery, Snow or Climbing Adventure, First Aid, Primitive Camper, Trailblazing, Eco Trekker, Space Science
Seniors (9th-10th grades) - First Aid, Adventure Camper, Space Science, Snow or Climbing Adventure, Sky, Adventurer, Eco Explorer, Trail Adventure, Paddling
Ambassadors (11th-12th grades) - Survival Camper, Space Science, Ultimate Recreation Challenge, First Aid, Snow or Climbing Adventure, Trail Adventure, Eco Advocate, Water
There are also various fun patches to be earned. Our council has a special outdoor patch set in the shape of a campfire. Here are a few examples of the MANY that are available.
